At the beginning of 2020 I was looking forward to some exciting assignments with a number of my regular theatre clients. As dates were confirmed in the calendar for promotional and production shoots in London and shoots further afield for touring theatre it was shaping up to be a year to remember. It certainly will be that... but for all the wrong reasons and as we go into week 7 of the UK's Coronavirus Lockdown the planned shoots now seem a long way off.
Theatre is resilient though and I sincerely hope we will all be back, stronger than ever as soon as possible. In the meantime, like many a small business working predominantly with events (I also enjoy working with wedding clients - many of them from the theatre industry) I am now spending much of the working day at my desk. Organising the archive from past 10 years has been my first job and as each client's back catalogue takes shape I will be selecting some of their highlights and publishing them in articles on this website.
These will include specific posts for Immersion Theatre, Lazarus Theatre, The Battersea Arts Centre, Prime Pantomimes and The Pendley Shakespeare Festival as well as some of my personal favourites from a wide variety of one-off assignments over the years. So, check back soon for the first of these.
For now here's a few images from my last shoot before lockdown (taken mid March 2020) which was an early rehearsal for Lazarus Theatre Co's Production of Ibsen's Hedda Gabler to be adapted and directed by Sara Reimers. The rehearsals were in Deptford, East London. The actual Production of Hedda Gabler was due to take place at the Greenwich Theatre the following month and unfortunately was one of the first casualties of the Coronovirus Lockdown... the rehearsals I attended showed a great deal of passion and promise and will be one to look out for when we get to the other side!
